Marina Vallarta is a planned district built around a working marina: several hundred slips, a boardwalk ringed with restaurants and bars, an eighteen-hole golf course threading between the condo towers, and a short row of resorts on the beach behind it. The airport and the cruise terminal are both minutes away, which is the single biggest reason people book here.

It feels different from the rest of Puerto Vallarta — wider streets, newer buildings, more English on the signs. The beach is decent but not the bay's best, and the sand narrows at high tide. What you are buying is convenience and a genuinely pleasant evening walk around the malecón of the marina, where the fishing and charter boats come back in.

Golf and boats

Marina Vallarta Club de Golf is inside the district. Most fishing charters, sunset cruises and sailing day trips leave from the marina docks, so an early departure means a five-minute walk rather than a forty-minute transfer.

Practical notes

Flight paths run overhead — light aircraft noise is part of the deal. Downtown is fifteen to twenty minutes by taxi or bus.

Questions people ask about staying in Marina Vallarta

How long is the transfer from Puerto Vallarta airport?

Roughly 5–10 min in normal traffic. Add time on Friday and Sunday afternoons, and during the December and Easter peaks.

Are there adults-only resorts in Marina Vallarta?

Yes — 1 in this guide: Casa Velas Hotel Boutique & Ocean Club.

Is it a good zone for families?

3 of the resorts here are set up for all ages, including Velas Vallarta Suite Resort. Golfers, boaters, cruise passengers and short stays where transfer time matters.

Is the all-inclusive plan always included in the rate?

No. 2 of the 5 properties in this zone sell it as an optional plan: Bel Air Collection Resort & Spa Vallarta, Marriott Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa. Price the room both ways before you decide — in zones with a lot of restaurants nearby, room-only often wins.

What is the best time of year to come?

November to April is dry, warm and busy — and the most expensive. May and June are hot and quiet. July to October is the rainy season: green, humid, cheapest, with storms that usually pass in a couple of hours. Whale watching runs roughly December to March.
